420 Indy

Two years ago, one of my employees informed me that The Grand Poobah of The First Church of Cannabis was wandering around outside down the sidewalk with a megaphone in celebration of 420. I knew this would make for a good video if I could catch him.

I grabbed my skateboard and headed for the elevator to intercept. When I stepped outside, there he was with megaphone in hand heading to the State House loud and proud to join up with the local chapter of Normal, Hoosier Veterans for Medical Cannabis, and others in favor of the legalization.

Another surreal day was upon me. I remember thinking how strange it was that I kept having random opportunities pop up to video events downtown, but maybe that’s just the nature of downtown. There may not always be something going on, but if you wait just long enough, something interesting is bound to turn up or take place.

Over at the state capital I talked to Jeff Staker & Jimmy Giordano with Hoosier Veterans for Medical Cannabis Inc., fellow veteran Terry Chambers, and Skywolf Neal Smith, Chairman of the local chapter of NORMAL who discussed their hopes for medical cannabis and the road blocks ahead of legalization.

While acknowledging that the battle would be an up hill climb, Levin and company that believe legalization is in Indiana’s future. It’s just a matter of time, but how much time no one knows for sure.

There are so many people with stories. Some are sad, others inspiring. I miss the random people of downtown Indianapolis who are now sheltered and hunkered down. May we soon meet again soon.
